Flight Controls Internship

Virgin Galactic was my dream internship and an opportunity to contribute to the development of the next-generation Delta Class spaceship. Throughout the 12-week experience, I gained a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be an engineer, working across disciplines, solving complex technical challenges, and pushing the boundaries of engineering and innovation to help commercialize human spaceflight. From high-level systems integration to hardware verification, testing, and engineering analysis, each responsibility strengthened my ability to approach complex systems with precision, curiosity, and purpose. My time at Virgin Galactic not only allowed me to support meaningful aerospace development but also established a new standard for the engineer I aspire to become.

Final Presentation

Concluded my 12-week internship by delivering a final presentation reflecting on my journey, technical contributions, and growth at Virgin Galactic. What initially felt like a long summer opportunity passed in the blink of an eye, filled with new challenges, meaningful projects, and experiences that continuously pushed me beyond what I had known as an engineering student. The presentation allowed me to look back on how much I had learned and contributed, from working alongside multidisciplinary teams to supporting the development of the Delta Class spaceship, and recognize how each experience helped shape my understanding of what it means to be an engineer in the aerospace industry. It was a fitting conclusion to an internship that set a new standard for what I hope to accomplish throughout the rest of my engineering journey.

Other Experiences

Spaceship Factory Mesa , Arizona

During the fifth week of my internship, Virgin Galactic provided me with the opportunity to visit its Spaceship Factory in Mesa, Arizona. Seeing the Delta-class spaceship manufacturing facility and the systems supporting its development gave me a deeper understanding of the scale, precision, and collaboration required to commercialize human spaceflight. The experience reinforced the importance of advanced manufacturing, system integration, and multidisciplinary engineering in transforming complex aerospace designs into flight-ready vehicles. Visiting the facility was a meaningful milestone in my internship and strengthened my appreciation for Virgin Galactic’s mission to make space travel more accessible.

Aerospace Games 2026

I had the honor of representing Virgin Galactic at the 2026 Aerospace Games, an annual event that brings together professionals and organizations from across the aerospace industry through friendly athletic competition. I competed in dodgeball alongside my colleagues, and although our team faced an early elimination, the experience was incredibly memorable. The Aerospace Games highlighted the strong sense of community within the industry, creating an environment where teams could celebrate one another’s achievements, build professional connections, and strengthen the collaboration that drives continued innovation and progress in aerospace.

Intern Lunch

During my internship at Virgin Galactic, I had the opportunity to host an intern lunch for a visiting intern based at Spaceport America in New Mexico. The lunch provided an opportunity to connect across Virgin Galactic locations, exchange perspectives on our respective internship experiences, and learn more about the work being conducted at the company’s spaceflight operations facility. Organizing and hosting the event allowed me to help create a welcoming environment while strengthening communication and collaboration within the intern community. This experience highlighted the importance of building professional relationships across teams and locations while contributing to Virgin Galactic’s connected and mission-driven culture.
